Introduction: Our Commitment & Your Role
At Infinity Metrics ("we", "us", or "our"), privacy is fundamental.
This policy explains how we handle data related to our website
(`getinfinitymetrics.com`) and the services we provide to you, our
customer ("Customer", "you").
Crucially, Infinity Metrics is self-hosted software.
You install and run it on your own servers. This means:
- You control the analytics data collected from visitors
("End Users") to your website(s) using the software.
- We do not collect, access, or process your End Users' data. That data resides entirely on your infrastructure.
-
This policy primarily covers the data we collect directly from you (our Customer) and visitors to our website (`getinfinitymetrics.com`).
We've designed the Infinity Metrics software to help you collect
analytics data in a privacy-respecting manner (no cookies, IP
anonymization by default) to aid your compliance with regulations like
GDPR and CCPA. However, you remain the Data Controller for your End
Users' data.
Data We Collect (About You, Our Customer, and Our Website Visitors)
We collect the following types of information directly:
- Account Information: When you purchase a license or
sign up, we collect information like your name, email address, and potentially
company name. This is necessary to provide the service and manage your
license.
- Payment Information: If you purchase a license, payments
are processed by our third-party payment processor, Stripe. We do not store your full credit card details ourselves. Stripe
handles this data according to their privacy policy.
- Website Usage Data (`getinfinitymetrics.com`): We use
our own Infinity Metrics software on our website (`getinfinitymetrics.com`)
to understand how visitors use it. This includes anonymous, aggregated
data like page views, referral sources, device type, browser type, and
country-level location. We use this data to improve our website and services.
This collection follows the privacy-preserving principles of our software
(no cookies, IP anonymization).
- Communications: If you contact us for support or inquiries,
we collect the information you provide in your messages (e.g., email
address, content of the message).
- License Activation/Verification Data: We may collect
minimal technical data necessary to verify your license status when the
software checks for updates or validates the license key.
Data Collected by the Software (On Your Servers, About Your End Users)
When you install and run the Infinity Metrics software on your
servers, it is designed to collect the following types of anonymous, aggregated data about your End Users by default:
- Page URLs visited
- Referrer URLs (where visitors came from)
- Browser type (e.g., Chrome, Firefox)
- Operating System (e.g., Windows, macOS)
- Device type (e.g., Desktop, Mobile)
- Country derived from anonymized IP address
- UTM parameters (if present in URLs)
- Custom event data (if you configure it)
Key Privacy Features of the Software:
- No Cookies: The software does not use browser cookies
for tracking.
- IP Anonymization: IP addresses are immediately hashed
with a daily rotating salt and discarded; the original IP is never stored.
- No Persistent Identifiers: Daily unique signatures prevent
long-term individual tracking.
Important: All this End User data is stored exclusively on your servers. We never receive or access it unless you explicitly share specific
logs or database excerpts with us for technical support purposes,
under your control. You are responsible for securing this data and
ensuring your use (including any custom event tracking) complies with
all applicable privacy laws.
How We Use Your Information (Customer and Website Data)
We use the information we collect directly from you and our website
visitors to:
-
Provide, maintain, and improve our Service (including software
updates).
- Process payments and manage your license subscription.
-
Communicate with you, including responding to support requests and
sending important service updates or security notices.
-
Analyze usage trends on `getinfinitymetrics.com` to improve our
website and marketing efforts.
- Prevent fraud and enforce our Terms of Service.
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use the analytics data collected by your self-hosted
instance for any purpose, as we do not have access to it.
Data Sharing and Disclosure (Customer and Website Data)
We do not sell your personal information. We may share the information
we collect directly from you in limited circumstances:
- Service Providers: With trusted third-party vendors
who need access to perform services on our behalf (e.g., Stripe for payment
processing, potentially email providers for communications). These providers
are obligated to protect your data and use it only for the services requested.
- Legal Requirements: If required by law, subpoena, or
other legal process, or if we believe in good faith that disclosure is
necessary to protect our rights, protect your safety or the safety of
others, investigate fraud, or respond to a government request.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition,
financing, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred as
part of that transaction. We will notify you via email and/or a prominent
notice on our website of any change in ownership or uses of your personal
information.
- With Your Consent: We may share your information with
third parties when we have your explicit consent to do so.
We do not share any End User analytics data collected
by your self-hosted instance, as we do not possess it.
Data Storage and Security
Our Data (Customer Accounts, Website Analytics)
We store your account information and our website analytics data on
secure servers, employing appropriate technical and organizational
measures to protect against unauthorized access, alteration,
disclosure, or destruction. We use HTTPS for data transmission.
Your Data (End User Analytics on Your Servers)
As the Infinity Metrics software is self-hosted, the security and
storage of the analytics data collected from your End Users are your responsibility. This includes:
-
Securing the server environment where the software and database
reside.
- Implementing access controls and monitoring.
- Managing data backups and retention policies.
-
Complying with any security requirements under applicable laws (like
GDPR).
Your Rights and Choices
Regarding Information We Hold About You (Our Customer)
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your
personal information, such as:
- Access: Request access to the personal data we hold
about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal
data.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal data, subject
to legal and contractual restrictions.
- Objection/Restriction: Object to or request restriction
of certain processing activities.
- Marketing Opt-Out: You can opt out of receiving promotional
emails from us by using the unsubscribe link within each email or by
contacting us. You will still receive essential service-related communications.
To exercise these rights, please contact us using the details provided
below.
Regarding Your End Users' Data (On Your Servers)
As the Data Controller for your End Users' data, you are responsible
for handling their privacy rights requests (access, deletion, etc.)
concerning the data collected by your Infinity Metrics instance. Since
the default software configuration does not store identifiable
personal data, fulfilling such requests often involves explaining that
no personal data is held.
Visitors to your website can often limit tracking by using browser
settings (e.g., Do Not Track) or privacy-enhancing browser extensions.
GDPR, CCPA & Global Privacy Compliance
We are committed to complying with applicable privacy laws. For GDPR
specifics related to the software's design and your responsibilities,
please see our GDPR Compliance page. The self-hosted nature and privacy-preserving design of Infinity
Metrics are intended to help you meet your obligations under various
global privacy regulations when configured and used appropriately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify
you of any significant changes by posting the new policy on this page
and updating the "Last updated" date. We encourage you to review this
policy periodically.
